Music, lyrics, lead vocals, bass & back-up rhythm guitar by John Anthony, with creative lead & rhythm guitar work by Juliana Wilson.
Verse 1:
50 caliber blow, got the bull in my sites
But the muzzle pulled low, chase the moose all night
Trail of blood by the cliff, by the light of the moon
I could not resist, to take it home real soon
Pre-Chorus:
An melodies are comin’, to this young man’s soul
An night sounds are quiet, after the smoke will blow
Smoke will blow
Chorus:
Powder Down, Patch an Ball
Ramrod Hammer Fall
Fly, Lead heated eye
High, Fire supply
Try, To take my time
Moose it falls to the ground
Rack it is comin’ down
Verse 2
There’s ah dark monster I see, ah silhouette black
If I miss right now, I ain’t turnin’ back
An powder crack sings, fire lights the dark
A hit so close, an I’m sure it’s on mark
(Pre-Chorus)
(Chorus)
The Hunt
“The Hunt” by Singer / Songwriter John Anthony. Words, music, rhythm guitar & bass by John Anthony, with special guest for creative work on rhythm & lead guitar Juliana Wilson.
ABOUT THIS SONG:
“The Hunt” is by songwriter John Anthony on vocals, bass, rhythm guitar, and features Juliana Wilson on creative lead guitar. This song was written from John’s experience hunting with his dad, and specifically talks about muzzle load hunting.
Muzzle load hunting is referenced in the song on the chorus in the order of loading a muzzle loader, ie… power down, patch & ball, ramrod, hammer, fall (hammer comes down & shoots). John’s dad has always been an avid gun collector who introduced muzzle load hunting to John. Together they made a 50 caliber muzzle loader from raw stock, as sung in the first line of the song.
This song also talks about one of his dad’s specific hunt’s when he was a younger dad, chasing wildlife deep into woods on a dark night. The song is John’s imagination of his dad’s story after arriving back about that hunt into those deep woods. John would then go out on his own hunts as he grew up, and create his own hunting experiences, which also influenced the song.
